HEAD
- The head should be large and high, deeply sunken between eyes
(medial furrow).
The circumference of the head should be equal to or greater than
the dogs height at the shoulders.
MUZZLE - the muzzle should be
broad, deep, and short. The bite is undershot. Faults: head too
small, muzzle too long (more than 3 inches), scissor or even bite.
EYES -
Eyes should be wide apart and of moderate size: any eye color is
acceptable.
NOSE -
Nose should be wide, may be any color except pink (a small amount
of pink acceptable). The nose must not be pushed up between the
eyes (see muzzle). From the stop to the end of the nose must be
at least an inch.
CHEST - The ribs should be well
rounded and the chest wide and deep.
BACK - The back is to be short
with a slight rise from the shoulders to the rump. (Level back is
just as acceptable.)
LEGS - Forelegs should be stout
and wide apart, neither bowing out or turning in. Back legs should
have moderate angulation of the stiffle, neither turning out or
in.
FEET - Should be round and the
pasterns should be strong.
SIZE - Males, 17 inches to 23 inches
at the shoulder. Weight: between 69-90 lbs. Females, 15 to 21 inches
at the shoulders. Weight: 50-80 lbs. (No penalty for dogs above
the size as long as the dog is well proportioned.)
COLOR - Any color is acceptable
except merle. The coat should be short.
EARS - The ears should be short
and either drop or be rose shaped.
TAIL - Straight, naturally reaches
near the hock, or screwed short. May be docked of no importance
GENERAL DESCRIPTION - The perfect
Olde English Bulldog should be of medium to large size with a massive
head and a very stout, muscular body. The disposition should be
affable, but courageous. Most importantly the Olde English Bulldog
is a healthy dog without many of the problems affecting modern bulldogs.
Males should be free breeders and females should be free whelpers.
The Olde English Bulldog should be void of all breathing problems.
